Ponce de Leon Center

Ponce de Leon Center includes 2  two buildings,  the
Woodlands Auditorium  and the Ouachita Activities
Building.  The two are connected by a Porte Cochere
which provides a covered drive through for
disembarking patrons.

The lights in both buildings are on year-round as big
name bands, nationally acclaimed performers, jazz,
symphony and live theatre performances fill the
Woodlands 658 seats.  Click HERE for more
information.

The Ouachita Building features three rooms of varying sizes, which may be rented individually or in combination. Individuals and organizations hold meetings, receptions and seminars there. Casa de Carta (House of Cards), a new addition to the Ouachita, was completed in June of 1998. It is used principally for the activities of the Village Card Club and guests.

Woodlands Auditorium is the Performing Arts Center of the Village. It is a 658-seat venue with state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment and excellent acoustics. Approximately 75 cultural and entertainment events are offered each year, featuring orchestra, dance, vocal and choral presentations, as well as theatre.

The HSV Community Concerts Association sponsors five concerts each year with three performances of each. The HS/V Symphony Guild sponsors performances of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and several additional cultural offerings. The community theatre group, Village Players, offers four productions annually, which includes a children's musical in July, in which all visiting grandchildren are encouraged to participate.

Village choirs and instrumental groups perform at the Woodlands each year, and the POA Social and Cultural Committee sponsors a variety show each spring, showcasing Village talent. This is a popular event.

The lobby of the Woodlands serves as an art gallery, featuring the works of Village artists. The exhibits are changed every 60 to 90 days.
The lobby is also a lovely setting for parties and meetings, and may be reserved for such events.

POA town meetings are held at Woodlands Auditorium on an as-needed basis.

The Porte Cochere connecting the Woodlands and Ouachita Building is a beautiful space for parties. It has also been used for political rallies, weddings and to showcase antique automobiles.

All Villagers and guests are welcome to stop by Ponce de Leon Center for a tour, to view the current art exhibit or to obtain information on coming events or arts-related clubs and organizations.
